Jesse Willms: Team Pink Is Back In The Running!

Posted by Jesse Willms on August 19, 2011

Hi. I’m happy to announce that Team Pink is getting up and running again! Regular blog readers will know  “http://jessewillms.com/raising-31000-in-the-fight-against-breast-cancer/” what I’m talking about.

But, for those of you who are new to the blog, I guess I should explain: Team Pink is the name we gave to our group last year when we participated in the 2010 Race For The Cure in Edmonton.

Me and my friends from Terra Marketing Group were just some of the more than 170,000 people across Canada who ran to help raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Last year our team raised over $31,000 for the Foundation was presented with awards for the Top Fundraising Friends and Family Team and the Top Fundraising Participant.

This year we want to do even better, so we’ll be back with, hopefully, a larger team – helping fight the good fight against breast cancer.

The run will be held on Sunday, October 2 and we hope that as many people as possible will come out and either run or support people who will be pounding the pavement on a nice Sunday afternoon.

The Race For The Cure is important for two reasons. For one, organizations like the Canadian Breast Cancer Fund need donations to survive, and events like this are a major part of how they get people to donate money.

But, just as important is that they help raise awareness of what the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation does day in and day out.

More than 23,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. These are our mothers, sisters, lovers and friends. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is dedicated to finding ways to prevent, treat and eventually cure breast cancer.

It wasn’t that long ago when a breast cancer diagnosis was a death sentence for most women. But, because of organizations like the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, that is no longer the case.

Yet, while there are better treatments out there than ever before, we are still a long way from making breast cancer a thing of the past. We cannot rest until we have overcome breast cancer.

Breast cancer is one of the most devastating things that can happen to any woman. It cannot only impact her health but also ruin her self-esteem.

We owe it to the women we love to do everything we can to help fight breast cancer. That’s why Team Pink will be there to help the support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and we hope other people will follow our lead.
