Jesse Willms - Inspired to Give $100,000

When I first started learning about how to support charitable organizations, what each and every group said to me that it’s not only about giving; it’s also letting people know about the good work these organizations do and creating a way to motivate other people to give as well.

So I hope you understand that when I talk on my blog about giving to charity, I’m not doing so to make myself look good. I just want to do everything in my power to inspire other companies and individuals to make the time and effort to support the charities themselves.

That’s why I started to build awareness for these organizations that do so much good for humanity. There are simply too many people who need our help to allow ourselves to stand by and do nothing.

The other day I was trying to think of how I could make a really dramatic impact that would put people into the spirit of giving. I’d narrowed down my choices to four amazing charities, and that’s when the idea hit me – I’d give $25,000 each, to all four charities, on one day.

They all deserve our support, and I’m proud to sponsor each and every one of them. Seeing the work they do is a truly humbling experience for me, and I’m glad I can do my part to help them reach their lofty goals.

Here are the four organizations I donated to and encourage you to do the same:

  • The Breast Cancer Research Fund. Did you know that there are 1.5 million new cases of breast cancer diagnosed each year? The BCRF is dedicated to funding efforts to prevent, treat and eventually find a cure for breast cancer. Our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends deserve their support.
  • Boston Children’s Hospital. When I started researching charities, I wanted to focus on those that help children live better lives. BCH is one of the best pediatric care hospitals in the world. What could be better than helping an organization that dedicates itself to helping children when they are sick so they can live longer, healthier lives?
  • The Nevada YMCA. Nearly all of us have found memories of the Young Men’s Christian Association. Whether it’s learning how to swim in their pools, going on one of their camping trips or attending their after school programs, they touch the lives of millions of young people a year and deserve our support.
  • The Gulf Oil Restoration Fund. Like millions of other people, I was shocked an appalled by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Countless numbers of species have been put at risk because of it, and mankind has an obligation to clean up their habitat. This fund makes that possibility a reality.
