A Little Bit About The YESS Organization

Hi, again. I want to use this blog to talk about Internet marketing and how I view the business I’m in. I’ll talk about ethics, good business practices and how to be successful. There is more to a man than how he makes his money – you also have to know how he spends it. That’s why I wanted to take some time today to talk about the YESS (Youth Emergency Shelter Society) organization.  YESS is, in my opinion, one of the most important and effective charitable organizations in Canada, which is why I choose to support them.  Unfortunately, not that many people know about YESS and its mission, so I figured I’d take a minute here to talk about what they do and why its important.

YESS exists to close a gap in Canada’s social welfare system that can have a major negative impact on the lives of at-risk youth or children who are born into poverty.  You see, until a child is 16 years old he or she has the right to seek help from Child And Family Services. When he or she turns 18, if they are still in crisis they can seek help from our adult welfare system.  But, when they are 16 and 17 there is no government program out there to help them – even though that’s when they need it most. This is the age when at-risk children are most likely to turn to drugs, crime or prostitution or be forced out onto the street.  The decisions they make at that age can have an effect on the rest of their lives. So, YESS decided to step in and plug the gap. They offer a wide array of services, both financial and otherwise, to help 16 and 17 year olds make the right choices until they are 18 and can be helped by the adult-focused system.

They have helped save the lives of many at-risk youth and made our society as a whole a better place to live in.  That’s why I choose to support YESS – and I encourage other people to do the same.
